Directions

You are currently at the home page of the Parcel Delivery Industry website. You can access all of the main pages via the links on the top and side navigation bars. I recommend starting at the Tutorial page, which will fill you in on the basics of this website, and help you get started analyzing the industry.

On the right side of the home page you can find the event and blog pages. The events are separated by week, and are vital to staying current on industry news. I would encourage you to pick up where I left off, and continue keeping tabs on each of the three players in the delivery industry. The blogs can be helpful to you for finding new sources of information and helpful tools that are at your disposal. While all of the blogs do not pertain directly to this industry, they deal primarily with tools that you may use (or may choose NOT to use) when conducting your research. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me using the information on the Contact page. Once again, good luck, and happy searching!

15 Dec 2009 21:16 Final Project: Parcel Delivery Industry (by joshuaaajoshuaaa)
(Tap tap) Yup, it's me. Here are a few things I'd like you to consider while grading my project.
30 Nov 2009 23:06 The Yahoo! Directory (by joshuaaajoshuaaa)
As the end of the semester draws nigh, I find myself searching for a final blog topic that I found useful during my term project. People search was not extremely helpful. Video and image search didn't help too much either. Realtime/social sites, change notification, and custom search engine tools were extremely useful, but I've already written blogs on those. That brings me back to the research sites class, in which I rediscovered the Yahoo! Directory.
25 Nov 2009 15:19 Metasearching for News (by joshuaaajoshuaaa)
Do metasearch engines produce better results than regular search engines? In theory, they are supposed to. By combining the results from multiple search engines, weighing the results that appear in multiple as more important, and presenting a filtered list of results, you would think that you would be provided with the most complete and accurate list of results imaginable. Does this theory transition into reality?
16 Nov 2009 23:13 Google Custom Search Engine (by joshuaaajoshuaaa)
When the words "Google" and "Custom" are combined to describe a single tool, you would think it has to be pretty close to the perfect research tool. It is really only as good as you make it, though. Your custom search engine only works with the information you tell it to search, so a quality GCSE begins with quality websites that you must choose.
16 Nov 2009 23:17 Real Time Information (by joshuaaajoshuaaa)
Real time has become prime time. In today's fast paced world, we need information, and we need it now. Tools like Twitter (and the mass of "twools" that have come with it), Delicious, and real time search engines have given us the ability to see what the world is talking about right now.
